Welcome to Southbourne
Southbourne is a suburb of Bournemouth in the English county of Dorset. It is the most easterly part of the Borough of Bournemouth, situated between Boscombe and Christchurch.
It has a fascinating history and was the creation of Thomas Compton, an enterprising young physician, who set up general practice in Bournemouth in 1866 and could see the area's potential as a health resort.
Today it remains popular with tourists seeking to escape Bournemouth town centre and its often-bustling crowds.
The jewel in Southbourne’s crown is its Blue Flag beach which offers a quieter experience than its busier central Bournemouth neighbour.
